# Canvas Tools: Frames, Annotations & Multi-Branch Joins

> Organize graphs with visual group frames, text notes, and orchestrate multi-branch barrier joins.

As workflows expand in complexity, visual clarity and structural synchronization become paramount. Quixa provides native canvas framing, free-form text annotations, and deterministic barrier synchronization tools.

## 1. Visual Canvas Frames (Group Framing)

**Canvas Frames** allow you to visually group related clusters of nodes (e.g. "Authentication Steps", "Payment Gateway Calls", "Cleanup"):

* **Synchronized Dragging**: Dragging any frame from anywhere on its body or dashed border moves all enclosed nodes synchronously, preserving all wiring geometry and connections.
* **Ultra-Light Pastel Theme Palette**: Choose from 7 curated pastel themes (`slate`, `blue`, `emerald`, `amber`, `violet`, `rose`, `cyan`) at 45% background opacity, ensuring the canvas grid and enclosed node badges retain 100% contrast.
* **Inline Title & Textless Modes**: Frames feature an inline title editor (defaults to `'Title'`) or a compact textless mode for minimalist visual groupings.
* **Right-Click Creation**: Right-click anywhere on an empty canvas area and select **`Frame`** from the context menu.

***

## 2. Free-Format Text Annotations

Add contextual documentation, architectural notes, or developer warnings directly onto the canvas:

* **Draggable Text Blocks**: Place text anywhere on the infinite canvas.
* **Inline Markdown & Plain Text**: Double-click to edit content directly.
* **Subtle Hover Controls**: Clean hover outlines with quick color adjustment and deletion controls.
* **Right-Click Creation**: Right-click on the canvas and choose **`Text`**.

## 3. Multi-Branch Barrier & Join Architecture (Fork-Join DAG)

Quixa features a high-performance **Topological Wave Execution Engine** that natively supports parallel forks and synchronizing barrier joins (`AND-join` semantics).

```mermaid theme={null}
graph LR
    Start["🚀 Initial Node (A)"] --> Fork1["⚡ Service Call (B)"]
    Start --> Fork2["⚡ Service Call (D)"]
    Fork2 --> Dep["⚡ Validation (E)"]
    Fork1 --> Barrier{"🧱 Join Barrier (C)"}
    Dep --> Barrier
    Barrier --> Done["🏁 Finalize Order"]
```

### Key Execution Guarantees:

1. **Parallel Fork Execution**: Downstream branches (e.g. Node B and Node D) launch concurrently in parallel execution waves.
2. **Deterministic Barrier Blocking**: A join node with multiple incoming dependencies (Node C) remains strictly blocked until **all** parent dependency paths have resolved.
3. **Context Union**: Downstream join nodes receive a consolidated execution context containing output variables from all concurrent parent branches, enabling complex cross-branch parameter bindings.
